Using Light: Multiple Flashes
There comes a time when the benefits to be gained from using multiple sources of light becomes worth the extra cost of buying a second or even third (or more) accessory flash.
The technology has also reached the point where it takes as little as only two accessory flashes with no extra equipment in order to effectively use these to create images of stunning depth and power.
If you are ready to purchase a second accessory flash, or are already using multiple flashes in your photography, this course explores in detail a large variety of set-ups for various scenes including where to position the lights and what power settings to dial in. More importantly, this course digs below these set-ups for multiple flashes to ask what makes some set-ups more successful than others, and reveals the universal principles that guide us to look at a scene and determine, through asking the right questions, where the best spot(s) and setting(s) are for each light we have under our control.
When you have finished this course, you will be knowledgeable and experienced in asking the right questions to determine where to position your first, second, third, etc. flashes for any given scene—outdoors or indoors. You will also have under your belt a number of commonly used set-ups for multiple flashes to achieve currently popular lighting techniques.
In addition, this course deals not just with lighting individual portraits, but also the new challenges brought up by lighting couples, and even the different set of challenges brought up by lighting larger groups of people.
NOTE: The skill of portrait studio style lighting with one key light is covered in detail in Using Light: Principles & Practice. This class goes to the next level by discussing where to position additional lights.
